Rajat Chakrabarty, MSW, RSW, RP

Rajat feels extremely passionate about mental health and has helped thousands of people over a span of more than twenty-five years and helped them in their journey of self-exploration, self-discovery, and self-empowerment. He brings a wealth of knowledge to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds as he has extensively worked in India, USA and Canada in many different settings including hospitals, community agencies, family health teams and in private practice, as a counsellor and a therapist. He is extensively trained in various psychotherapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based interventions, Solution Focused Therapy, Couple/Marriage therapy and Clinical Hypnosis. His area of focus includes working with adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, phobia, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, relationship issues, work-place issues, other adjustment issues, loss, and grief.

Rajat has received most of his psychotherapy trainings directly from various world class reputed clinicians. He is certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Adler Centre for Learning. He received training in CBT from Dr. Christine Padesky. He received intensive training in Mindfulness from various professionals, including Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn (the founder of MBSR) and Dr. Zindel Segal (one of the founders of MBCT). He has also obtained intensive training in Clinical Hypnosis from Dr. Michael Yapko.

He has received his Level 1, 2 and 3 trainings in Gottman Method Couples Therapy from Dr. John & Julie Gottman of the Gottman Institute, which is a research-based approach to relationships. In his work, Rajat offers a compassionate and safe place and believes in focusing on one’s wellness rather than focusing on pathology. His approach to therapy is client-centered, strength-based, feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed. He always tries to create a warm, inviting, and collaborative space, where he views his client as the expert of one’s own life, and he remains as a facilitator in their journey to explore their inner worth to bring positive changes.
